Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Reconstruction

Mohs Micrographic Surgery

Mohs surgery was originally developed in the 1930s by Frederic E. Mohs at the University of Wisconsin. Over the years, the technique has been advanced and is now considered the gold standard treatment for non-melanoma skin cancers on the head and neck. The Mohs micrographic surgery technique examines the complete margin of the tumor to make sure only healthy, non-cancerous tissue is left behind. Because the surgeon is examining the entire margin of the tissue, a more conservative approach to removing the skin cancer is taken, and the maximum amount of healthy tissue is preserved.

Reconstruction

Dr. Fisher is a fellowship trained Mohs surgeon and has dedicated training in facial reconstruction of Mohs surgical defects (the wound that is left after the tumor is removed). After your tumor is removed, Dr. Fisher will review the reconstruction options with you. This may include a simple linear repair, a skin flap, a skin graft or allowing the wound to heal by itself (process known as secondary intent healing).

Post-Operative Care

Dr. Fisher will arrange to see you for post-surgical check-ups after Mohs surgery in order to monitor healing, remove sutures (if needed) and to check for possible skin cancer recurrence. You will be provided with detailed instructions on how to take care of your wound before you leave the office.

Dr. Juliya Fisher I honestly the best in her field in all of NYC.

As someone who is very particular about everything (Im a strong virgo!) I had not been able to find anyone in aesthetics that I liked enough to return to more than once since moving back to the east coast from LA. Los Angeles the market is saturated and its a little easier to find people that are at least decent - In New York the market seems to be more saturated with what I like to refer to as grab - and -gos; companies that want you to have a membership and essentially walk you in and out of the door in 15 minutes or less. And if you arent satisfied a receptionist will call you back to tell you they'll discount your next treatment -umm...no thanks why would I pay to do that?!

I found Dr. Fisher after a friend of mine had done a a sofewave laser treatment with her t(hats considered a non surgical facelift) and I couldnt believe how much tighter her skin had become and what a strong glow she had.

My first meeting with her was amazing, you could tell right away that she has a wealth of knowledge on all aspects of dermatology, facial anatomy as well a ton of experience as am injector for filler/ botox and all the other goodies.

But what really took me in was that her confidence was as strongly matched with her attentiveness to listen and hear everything I was saying about my goals and what past experiences I had that I was/ wasnt happy with.
I have a really small forehead- and no matter how many times I have told past injectors that I cant have a lot of botox in that area and they cant really go below the hairline I have always ended up with more than I wanted and a heavy brow. Dr.Fisher was able to point this out before I even told her and from that moment I knew she was the one Ive been looking for.

I can honestly say she has helped me to look and feel the best I have in many years- she was able to explain what options there were for my goals- which have always been to look natural and less insecure- she has never tried to over sell me and has also told me when I wasnt a candidate for something - and I know she would tell me if I was taking my perfectionism too far - hahah- I have had a few things done with her and I have never been happier with any other person thats ever done any injections for me. She took the time to really hear what I wanted and was able to make it all happen.

And aside from being technically amazing shes just super chill and nice, there isnt a pretentious bone in her body. You feel like you are hanging out with a friend that genuinely wants the best for you. You can see the pride she has in her work - and the pride she has in seeing her patients happy. I can tell thats her biggest priority - the satisfaction of patients. I have ,and would send any friend or family member to her- and those that have gone are as big a fan as I am.

I took the chance and did the Sofwave Laser- and its a miracle worker, I have been told more times in this last two weeks that My skin is glowing and what have I done to it that I have been asked in YEARS. It's been around 2.5 months and thats when they say the results start to show- and they are exactly on schedule and I have been telling my friends to stop wasting money on other things and try this out.

Im so grateful to have found my person and to be able to help direct others in what can be a scary and long search, and thank you Dr.Fisher for being so skilled and my best friend in my head 🙂

Dr. Fisher is very nice person who is also a confident and knowledgeable specialist in her field. She quickly removed my skin lesions so carefully and it was completely pain free. Dr. Fisher doesn’t force you into expensive treatments but can recommend something if you ask. Hope the therapy I was prescribed with is going to improve my skin quality. Doctor’s assistants and the whole office (I’m sorry, so many people, don’t really remember the names) are very nice and helpful and build such calm friendly atmosphere even though you are at the doctor’s office.

Dr. Fisher does a very thorough skin check. The course of treatment she prescribed helped me attain younger and smoother looking skin. I am a 70 year old guy who was a sun worshiper back in the day and did damage to my skin. My skin is better now and will continue to get better as a result of Dr. Fisher.

Dr. Fisher is an excellent doctor who's is knowledgeable, practical and professional. The healing time after my procedure was significantly less than I anticipated it would be due in large measure to the high quality of her work. I definitely recommend her.
